Ecological sustainability focuses on the responsible use of natural resources. This means that we must conserve and protect resources such as water, soil and air. One important aspect is climate protection. By reducing greenhouse gas emissions, expanding renewable energies and promoting energy-efficient technologies, we can mitigate climate change. The preservation of biodiversity is also of great importance. Biodiversity is not only aesthetically valuable, but also essential for stable ecosystems, which in turn form the basis of our livelihoods.

Sustainability in product development

When developing our machines and products, we take the entire life cycle into account, from production and operation to the recyclability of all individual parts. We attach great importance to ensuring that all electrical and mechanical components are optimally and efficiently designed. This is reflected in our energy-efficient drives, such as the frequency-controlled motors in our cutters, grinders, mixers and continuous cutters. These motors are designed in such a way that they avoid switch-on and switch-over current peaks and reduce energy consumption by only providing the drive with the current required at any given time.

Another example is the water-cooled main motors of our cutters. This equipment enables the recovery of waste heat for hot water generation or energy recovery via a heat exchanger. This prevents the waste heat from being fed into the cooled production room, which supports room cooling and saves energy.

In addition to improving product safety, the hygienic design of our machines also helps to conserve resources. Smooth, polished surfaces, rounded edges and the avoidance of screws and corners significantly reduce the consumption of cleaning agents and water. We also use harmless lubricants with food approval instead of conventional mineral oils and greases, even outside the product area.

In machine development, we prefer V-belt or chain transmissions instead of gears wherever possible in order to avoid regular oil changes and the associated disposal costs. Cutters and mixers with vacuum function are equipped with maintenance-free water ring pumps that do not require oil changes.

At the end of a machine's service life, we are also happy to take it back, dismantle it professionally, dispose of or recycle the worn parts and overhaul the entire machine, which we can then continue to use for many decades.

Sustainability in production and administration

In addition to our buildings and facilities, all business and production processes are checked and optimized according to the latest sustainability standards. Our goal is sustainable production and administration with minimal energy consumption, high resource conservation and protection of the environment and employees

We therefore use energy-optimized processes and production machines with energy-efficient drives. Thanks to our high level of vertical integration, we avoid long transportation routes and rely on local suppliers as far as possible for external production.

As it is often dusty in metal processing, we use our exhaust air filter systems with heat recovery and, should it get too cold, our combined heat and power plant provides the necessary heat and electricity. The compressed air generation system also has a heat recovery system, which is used to heat the hot water in the staff showers.

We use our roof areas to generate electricity and are thus continuously expanding our contribution to renewable energy. The lighting in our production and administration buildings has been completely converted to energy-saving LED lighting, and all production and administration areas have large windows to let in natural light. We are reducing our internal paper consumption through consistent digitalization. An increasing proportion of the vehicle pool is already electric and we offer our customers and employees charging stations with self-generated PV power.

By carefully sorting recyclable materials, we not only save on disposal costs, but also increase our recycling rate. We have reduced the use of hazardous substances to the absolute minimum necessary.

We focus on the well-being of our employees, as they are our company's greatest asset. We also support local and national social institutions and projects and are committed to promoting young talent in the professional fields relevant to our customers.
